'How often should I come for treatment?'

You are unique and the number of treatments depends on your needs, condition and constitutional health. A treatment plan will be tailor-made for you at the outset. Each visit lasts between forty minutes and an hour, usually on a weekly basis.

 

Improvement is usually felt after four or five treatments. Sometimes the effects are dramatic, other times changes are more subtle.

 

The overall aim is to get you to a point where your energy needs only to be 'topped up' at the change of the seasons or for special events.

5 Element Acupuncture is a traditional form of acupuncture ideally suited to the complexities of the modern world and it's effect on well-being. We try to treat the whole person and the root of the problem as well as any symptoms that might be present.

 

'What will happen on my first visit?'

Your first consultation will take a little longer than subsequent ones as your Acupuncturist will need to assess your general state of health. You will be asked about your medical history and that of your close relatives, current symptoms, treatments and any perscription drugs.

 

We will talk about lifestyle - diet, habits, sleep patterns, emotional state and so on to understand your constitution and allowing a contextual diagnosis to be made.

 

Your Acupuncturist will employ a range of diagnostic skills including feeling the pulses on both your wrists - noting quality, rhythm and strength. You will also be asked to stick out your tonque, as it's condition gives a good guide to your overall health.

 

The aim is to treat the root of your condition, whether physical or emotional, rather than just the present symptoms.
